It can be scary going to a creative writing group for the first time, especially as a young person. You might wonder things like – What if they ask me read to my work out? What if I don’t fit in? What if they judge what I write? Or simply, what’s it going to be like? Well, who better to tell you than young writers themselves. Hive asked 20 past and present members of South Yorkshire Young Writers groups everything you might want to know if you’re thinking about joining a group.

The film is also a celebration of 10 years (we can’t believe it! Now 11 as of 2018!) of the South Yorkshire Young Writers network. We’ve event unearthed some old footage of young writers that we’re hoping to get up on the Hive YouTube channel in full in the near future.

The only thing not covered is that – there’s usually chocolate at the sessions (well we think it’s important!)
