Young writer performances May-June
There are 3 opportunities to catch young writers reading and performing, (or to perform as a young writer yourself) during May and June, plus some great talents you can catch alongside them. We thought we’d round them up as we’re good like that!
- South Yorkshire Poetry Festival reading at Grimm & Co, Rotherham, 22nd May – 7.30 to 9.15pm – 5 young writers from Hive groups (Beth Davies, Shaw Fowler, Eloise Unerman, Safia Khan & Warda Yassin (Warda is also with The Writing Squad), are reading with Helen Mort, Theophilus Kwek & Phoebe Stuckes at Grimm & Co in Rotherham as part of the South Yorkshire Poetry Festival.

- Verse Matters at South Yorkshire Poetry Festival, Theatre Deli, Sheffield, 27th May – 7.30 to 10pm A mixture of comedy, poetry and music. 3 young writers will perform (inc. Ali Hosin & Dominic Heslop) alongside Kate Fox, Salena Godden, Angelina Abel & Mina Salama. For more info click here.

- (Open to all) Open Mic Mehfil at the Alchemy Doncaster festival, 3rd June 4pm – 5.30pm The festival celebrates South Asian culture but all young writers are welcome to come and perform. The line-up includes Safia Khan, Ali Hosin, Vertaa Lune, Kiran MB, Salma Lynch & Saju Ahmed For more info, or to book a slot click here. The event is free.
